# The Next Generation Webshop

*Real content, agents that help and a static engine*

> Tom and Melanie Alaerds sell water filters from Hegelsom, with a 9.9/10 from almost two thousand reviews. Together we opened a second shop, for all of Europe: waterfilterhouse.com. This post shows what makes it a next generation webshop: real content, agents that help, and the static engine of Lemmid Store underneath.

## A shop for Europe
Since the summer I work with Tom on making his knowledge findable, for people and for AI. That started with Helder, a site full of honest guides about water, written together with Tom and a weekly editorial agent. This week we took the next step: a shop of its own, only water filters, for the European market, under its own name. So waterfilterhouse.com was born, "by alternatievemiddelen.nl". Three languages from day one: [English](https://waterfilterhouse.com/en/), [German](https://waterfilterhouse.com/de/) and [Dutch](https://waterfilterhouse.com/nl/).

## Real content
A good webshop is not a catalogue, it is a person you trust. Tom answers filter questions himself, by phone and on WhatsApp, and that knowledge is the heart of the shop. So the shop is built around his words, not around stock-photo slogans.

The shop has an integrated [product finder](https://waterfilterhouse.com/en/product-finder/). Four short questions, and it gives the advice Tom and Melanie would give themselves, with today's stock and price. It helps every visitor find the filter that fits their needs, and it takes a flurry of mails, WhatsApps and messages with the same standard questions off Tom and Melanie's plate.

[Every category](https://waterfilterhouse.com/en/shop/waterfilter/) has filters that come from the products themselves: number of people, capacity, height, diameter, colour, brand. Only filters that actually split the range are shown, in the order Tom asked for. Product pages carry the specs, the photos, the right elements and spare parts, and when Tom has made a video about the product, it is right there.

## Tom explains
Tom has a YouTube channel with short videos: how to prime an element, [how to do the red dye test](https://waterfilterhouse.com/en/tom-explains/how-to-do-the-red-dye-test/), how the shower filter works. Ten of them now live on the shop itself, under [Tom explains](https://waterfilterhouse.com/en/tom-explains/), each with its own page. Only two have speech. The other eight are music with Dutch text in the picture. So the agents listened where Tom speaks, read the burned-in text frame by frame where he does not, and wrote English and German subtitles that stay clear of the Dutch text. A German visitor now follows Tom in German.

Around it sit [23 guides](https://waterfilterhouse.com/en/guides/), [84 answers in the FAQ](https://waterfilterhouse.com/en/faq/), [brand pages](https://waterfilterhouse.com/en/brand/boroux/) that put every model side by side at its true height, and [51 manuals and lab reports](https://waterfilterhouse.com/en/manuals/). Everything stays on the site. This is the kind of content a chatbot quotes when somebody asks [which water filter to buy](https://willem.com/en/2026-04-19_seo-is-dead/).

## A static engine
Underneath runs the engine of Lemmid Store, the ordering platform I [built over the years](https://willem.com/en/2021-01-31_building-a-product-platform/) that processes thousands of orders every month. Every page is generated in advance: 462 pages in three languages, rebuilt whenever something changes, and every hour with fresh stock. A page answers in about a tenth of a second. There is not a single request to a third party, no trackers, no cookie wall.

Measured with Lighthouse, the engine behind Google's PageSpeed, on the home page of a typical WooCommerce WordPress shop and on waterfilterhouse.com. Each cell shows mobile / desktop.

The cart lives in the browser. At checkout the server calculates every order again, to the cent, with Tom's own shipping rates per country, then hands it to Mollie. A paid order lands in the order desk within seconds, ready to print, pack and ship. The customer gets a confirmation in their own language.

## Agents that help
The translation of a whole shop is a classic job nobody wants. The Lemmid Store backend coordinates that work across local models and frontier models. Every field passes automatic checks: same links, same structure, same prices. Advanced spell checks keep brand names as they are, so Badger never turns into Dachs in German.

Other agents keep the shop alive without anybody looking: stock every hour, the product finder every day, a new guide every week for Tom to approve. And the shop speaks to machines as clearly as to people. A full [machine-readable edition](https://waterfilterhouse.com/agents/) with products, stock, guides and answers is published next to the pages, the part of the web that [the agents read](https://willem.com/en/2026-07-07_counting-agentic-traffic/).

## Your shop
We work with a variety of technologies and can import existing webshop setups into the Lemmid Platform. Feel free to [drop me a message](https://willem.com/en/#contact) if you want to know more.

## Conclusion
The next generation webshop starts with the owner's real knowledge, runs on a static engine that is fast and calm, and has agents that help around the clock. Tom keeps doing what only Tom can do: help people get clean water. Go have a look, and maybe order a filter.
