# Apple Watch Series 2 battery life after three months of daily wear

*About a day and a half, which limits overnight sleep tracking.*

> When I tested the Apple Watch Series 2 for three months in 2017, it lasted about 1.5 days on a charge and charged at roughly 1% per minute. That meant daily charging, which clashed with wearing it overnight for sleep tracking.

I tested the Apple Watch Series 2, in steel with a sapphire display, for three months, wearing it all day, at night and in the shower. Battery life was about 1.5 days per charge, so it needed charging every day. Charging is fast, roughly 1% per minute, using a magnetic cable that requires you to take the watch off. Because I used it for sleep tracking I could not charge it overnight, so I charged it while showering or eating instead, which always took some planning. This daily charge is the main reason a smartwatch interrupts the continuous data collection that makes it worthwhile in the first place.
