# The Agentic Web explained

*Machines talking to machines on your behalf.*

> The Agentic Web is the next evolution of the internet where machines talk to machines on our behalf. AI agents will not just find information but take action: asking a restaurant's agent for the menu and booking a table.

For decades the web has been humans talking to machines: you type a query and a computer shows a list of websites. The Agentic Web flips that around, with AI agents acting as assistants that talk to other agents on your behalf.
Instead of searching for a restaurant's website, your agent asks the restaurant's agent for the menu, checks for a free table and books it. The same pattern works for ordering takeout, buying tickets for a club night or getting a quote from a contractor, with language models acting as universal translators that bridge language and context.
Preparing for it now is low risk and high reward: even if the breakthrough takes longer than expected, you end up with a website that is exceptionally clean and well organised.
