I spent a week trying, leaving the phone behind and letting an Apple Watch take over. It is sold as liberation from an attention-seeking device, and there is something to that, but the experiment is more interesting than the conclusion: what you discover is which phone habits were ever about need. That was 2023. In the summer of 2026 the Watch left my wrist altogether: the phone had grown strong enough to do its job with the watch out of the way.
