What is digital sovereignty and why should a business care?

It is the difference between using tools and being used by them. Over the years I have worked with everything from easy but locked-down commercial systems to free and libre solutions that are more powerful and harder to set up, and the lesson is that convenience is usually paid for with control. Digital sovereignty is about deliberately choosing where on that scale you sit, per system, with your eyes open.
