Blink is a terminal app for iPad. Combined with a Virtual Private Server running Mosh, build and deploy tasks execute on the server and keep running even when the iPad is off. There is a cost attached to the server, but for a developer who wants flexibility it is worth it. Editors like VIM or Emacs are not for everyone, but for me they are an enjoyable and effective coding environment. After several years on iPad my conclusion is that it cannot replace a laptop in the traditional sense, but if you re-imagine the way you work it becomes a powerful tool. I would pick the 11-inch Pro or the iPad Mini over the 12.9-inch model, which paired with a Magic Keyboard weighs more than a MacBook Air.
