Summary
In 2021 my rear Schwalbe Durano Plus tire finally went flat after 4200KM of riding. Before switching to puncture resistant tires I averaged one flat per 1500KM, so they nearly tripled my distance between punctures.

The Schwalbe Durano Plus tires ran so long without a puncture that I stopped carrying a spare. The rear tire finally lost pressure during a commute, after 4200KM of riding. That single failure answers the question whether puncture resistant tires are really puncture proof: they are not, but they last far longer than ordinary tires. Before switching I averaged roughly one flat per 1500KM, depending on conditions. One tire is not a statistically solid sample, so I will not make bold claims from a single data point, but the direction is clear: fewer flats and more cycling.
