The Tecnam P2002JF is a two-seat, single-engine aluminium plane made in Italy, one seat for the pilot and one for a passenger. Length 6.6 m, wingspan 9 m, height 2.3 m, wing area 11.5 square metres, empty weight 331 kg, maximum takeoff weight 600 kg. The Rotax 912 S2 is a four-cylinder, four-stroke, liquid and air cooled engine of about 60 kg, giving 100 HP at 5800 RPM through a 1.6 m propeller. It burns about 18.5 litres of normal car fuel per hour, cruises at 225 km/h, has a range of 1050 km and a practical ceiling of 14,000 feet. The plane cost around 150K euro at the time. I flew it from Hilversum (EHHV) to Texel (EHTX) and back for lunch, with the flight plan plotted on an iPad.
