Do I still need a website when customers ask AI assistants?
Answer
Yes, but a different one. A model can summarise your about page. It cannot book the table, it does not know whether the 20:37 from Haarlem is running, and it cannot run the marathon for you. What survives is what has a physical anchor: reservations, orders, events, vacancies, opening hours, a form that actually does something. Websites become flatter and smaller, but that essential function remains, and a website is still the one place on the internet where you have full authority over what is shown. Build that, and let the links take care of themselves.
